Baby’s First Steps
Your baby crawls and now it is time for the biggest milestone: walking! How can you help your baby get moving? By giving him toys that encourage him to do so.
Products to help baby walk fall into three categories: assistance products, two-in-one push toy products, and push-toy only products.
One popular assistance product is Walking Wings. The idea is simple: you fasten the vest around your baby and use the straps to guide your baby’s steps. You may also opt for a sit-in baby walker such as the Chicco Baby Walker. This walker allows your child to sit and play but also allows him to use his feet to move the walker.
Two-in-one push toys, such as Playskool’s Walk ‘n Ride and Fisher-Price’s Stride-to-Ride Dino, are two toys in one. The first toy is a walker that your child uses to stand and walk. The second is the first ride-on toy for your child once walking has been mastered. These toys often last longer because your child can use them throughout his development.
The final toy is a push toy only. These toys, such as Little Tikes Gas ‘n Go Mower, usually emulate real-life push products. These toys do not double as riding toys, but are cheaper and can help your baby learn how to stand and walk without all of the bells and whistles.
All of these helpful products can be found at local and online retailers once you decide what is best for you and your baby.
